An example of a PICSI dish ~ which are used by our scientists and lab team to select the very best sperm. Healthy sperm have the ability to bind to a special protein on the dish, and as you can see, the healthy sperm are stuck in place, yet still moving. Abnormal sperm will just swim around ~ and do not bind to the bottom of the dish. Once a sperm is "bound" and identified as healthy - it is then "picked up" by a small pipette and used to treat the partners eggs. It's a HUGELY important ~ and rarely seen aspect of treatment ~ that all unfolds under the microscopes within our cutting-edge lab.
